Share Recipes Fairly

Recipe Room is built around photographers learning from one another. It is completely normal to be inspired by another creator’s recipe, but please use the recipe type that honestly reflects where your version came from. No creator gets exclusive ownership of a camera setting or combination of settings merely by publishing it. Photographers may independently arrive at identical settings, and similarity alone is not plagiarism, theft, or proof of copying. Original photos, written descriptions, branding, and other qualifying material may still be protected by intellectual-property law.
  • Use a community recipe when you keep another creator’s settings unchanged.
  • Use a forked recipe when you start from another creator’s recipe and adapt the settings. Give it a title that is not identical to the source. You may retain a recognisable part of the name.
  • Use a custom recipe when you created the recipe independently from scratch.
  • Link the existing recipe to your post when it is the recipe you used.
If the settings are unchanged, use Community. A Community recipe may keep the established name, which counts as credit, and cannot be sold. If you adapt an existing recipe, use Forked and choose a title that is not identical to the source. Forked recipes cannot be sold. Recipe Room may also show the source or creator where that information is available, but an additional creator tag is not required. Linking someone else’s recipe does not give you ownership of it. It keeps the recipe and creator attached to your post so people can see the source. Read How Recipes and Posts Connect for the full attribution model. You must not manually publish a recipe as Custom using the exact name of an existing Recipe Room recipe in order to present or sell it as your own. This applies even if you change the settings. It is a violation of the Terms whether or not copyright applies. If you believe another user has copied your recipe or is presenting it as their own, follow Reporting and Appeals. Recipe Room will review the report under its moderation process. As the creator platform and monetization features are introduced, Recipe Room will add further safeguards and review processes to help identify possible misuse, resolve concerns fairly, and protect creators.

Do

  • Credit creators when your recipe is based on their work.
  • Use forks when you personalise someone else’s recipe.
  • Use community recipes when you save an unchanged recipe.
  • Add accurate camera model and film simulation details.
  • Add relevant tags that describe the actual look, light, subject, place, or use case.
  • Keep comments constructive.
  • Use messages respectfully.
  • Report issues or harmful content to support.

Do Not

  • Upload content you do not have the right to share.
  • Harass, threaten, or target other users.
  • Share private information without permission.
  • Use Recipe Room to spam, scam, or manipulate engagement.
  • Add unrelated or misleading tags to reach more people.
  • Abuse messages, mentions, comments, follows, or share links.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
  • Share prohibited sales, harmful links, or dangerous instructions.
  • Evade an account restriction or permanent ban by creating or using another account.
  • Submit deliberately false, misleading, or abusive reports.

Content and Account Standards

Posts, recipes, collections, profiles, comments, and messages must not contain or promote:
  • Spam, scams, fraud, fake engagement, or misleading links.
  • Harassment, hate, threats, unwanted contact, or sexual harassment.
  • Sexual content, graphic violence, self-harm encouragement, or dangerous activities.
  • Child sexual abuse or exploitation, child sexual abuse material, grooming, sextortion, sexualised depictions of children, or any other child safety risk.
  • Privacy violations or personal information shared without permission.
  • Copyright, trademark, impersonation, or other intellectual-property violations.
  • Prohibited sales or transactions.
  • Deliberately false, harmful, or misleading recipe and camera information.
Recipe Room may ask a creator to correct inaccurate recipe details where correction is more appropriate than enforcement.

Moderation and Enforcement

Recipe Room may review content and account activity when it receives a report or otherwise becomes aware of a possible violation. Depending on the circumstances, Recipe Room may:
  • Find that no violation occurred.
  • Remove or restore content.
  • Ask for a correction.
  • Issue a warning.
  • Temporarily restrict an account.
  • Restrict an account indefinitely while a concern is reviewed.
  • Permanently ban an account.
Deliberately presenting a copied recipe as Custom, using an existing recipe’s exact name to present or sell it as your own, or attempting to sell a Community or Forked recipe may result in content removal, sales restrictions, account restrictions, or a permanent ban. Repeated, deceptive, or commercial conduct may lead to stronger action. A warning will normally be considered before restricting or permanently banning an account. Severe abuse, safety risks, fraud, repeated violations, legal requirements, or attempts to evade enforcement may result in immediate action. Recipe Room considers the available evidence, context, severity, account history, user safety, and applicable legal obligations. Recipe Room reserves the right to determine and maintain the action it considers appropriate.

Reporting

You can report posts, recipes, collections, and profiles from within Recipe Room. Reports should be made honestly and include enough information for the concern to be understood. Recipe Room does not disclose the reporter’s identity to the reported account. We may be unable to share the detailed outcome of a report because of privacy, safety, or legal obligations.
