Recipe Room on an iPad or other supported tablet is designed for the larger screen. It isn’t the phone interface stretched to fill the space. You can use the same account, Posts, Recipes, collections, messages, preferences, and gear in either orientation. What changes is how the app arranges them. Signed-in tablet screens use persistent side navigation instead of the floating phone navigation. It keeps the main areas of Recipe Room within reach while leaving more room for the content. In portrait, reading and editing screens usually stay in a centred column so lines and controls don’t become unnecessarily wide. Grids can use the extra room where it helps, while focused flows keep a clear reading width. In landscape, Recipe Room can place related parts of a task beside each other. This reduces unnecessary back-and-forth without shrinking the content into phone-sized panels.

Where the Layout Changes

  • Sign-in and account screens: landscape can place Recipe Room’s identity beside the form, while portrait keeps one centred column.
  • Create a Recipe: landscape can keep photographs on one side and the Recipe form on the other. Portrait keeps the same work in a single reading order.
  • Browse and detail screens: the navigation and actions move into tablet-specific positions so the photograph or Recipe remains the focus.
  • Sheets and pickers: menus, comments, announcements, and selection sheets use a centred tablet treatment instead of stretching from edge to edge.

Messages in Landscape

Messages use a two-pane layout in tablet landscape:
  • Conversations stay in a list on the left.
  • The selected conversation opens on the right.
This lets you move between conversations without repeatedly leaving the open thread. In portrait, Messages returns to a single-pane layout: choose a conversation from the list, then use Back to return.

Full-Screen Steps

Some tasks deliberately take over the full screen, including onboarding, Preferences, My Gear, legal acceptance, and media selection. These steps keep their own navigation and a centred working area so it is clear when you are completing one focused flow.
