Creating an account gives you a public profile and lets you publish, save, collect, follow, and join conversations.

How to Sign Up

  1. Open Recipe Room and choose Sign Up.
  2. Continue with Apple or Google, or create an account with your email address.
  3. If you use email, enter your name, username, email address, and password.
  4. Check your inbox for a verification link.
  5. Open the link, then return to Recipe Room and log in.
Use the same sign-in method when you come back. For example, if you registered with Apple, choose Continue with Apple rather than starting a second email account. If you have a referral code from a friend, enter it in the sign-up flow before continuing with Apple, Google, or email. Recipe Room checks the code and applies it when valid.

Before You Enter the App

Every account must accept the current Terms and Conditions and acknowledge the Data Privacy Policy. Both documents are linked from the acceptance screen so you can read them before continuing. Depending on how you sign up, this may appear as part of registration or immediately after Apple or Google sign-in. You can’t continue into Recipe Room without accepting the current versions, but you can sign out instead.

Welcome, Preferences, and Your Gear

After sign-up, Recipe Room introduces the main parts of the community before helping you set up a useful starting point:
  1. The welcome sequence explains Posts, Recipes, profiles, and Explore.
  2. Preferences lets you choose cameras, film simulations, and photography interests. These choices give recommendations somewhere useful to start. They do not lock your feed to those subjects.
  3. My Gear lets you select the cameras you actually own, so Recipes can show whether their film simulation works with those cameras.
You can skip the preference and gear choices, and you can change them later from Account Settings. My Gear is separate from your recommendation preferences. Read Explore and Recommendations for how personalisation develops as you use Recipe Room.

Username and Email Rules

  • Your email address can only be connected to one account.
  • Your username must be available and is checked while you type.
  • Usernames are public, so choose one you’re comfortable showing on your profile.
  • Usernames must be 3–30 characters and can use letters, numbers, underscores, or full stops.
  • Your display name and username are different: the display name is how you introduce yourself, while the username is your unique @ handle.

Password Rules

Passwords must be at least 8 characters and include:
  • One uppercase letter
  • One lowercase letter
  • One number

Email Verification

Recipe Room sends a verification link after email sign up. If you can’t find it, check spam, junk, or promotions and search your inbox for Recipe Room. You can ask the app to send another link.

If Sign Up Stops Partway Through

  • If an email is already in use, try logging in or use Forgot Password.
  • If a username is taken, adjust it and wait for the availability check.
  • If the password is rejected, check all three password rules above.
  • If Apple or Google doesn’t finish, try the same provider again and make sure the provider is using the email you expect.
