# Explore and Recommendations

> How Recipe Room shapes Explore around the way you use the community.

Explore helps you find Posts, Recipes, collections, and photographers beyond the accounts you already know.

It is personalised, not random. What appears changes as Recipe Room learns more about what you choose to follow, save, open, search for, and engage with.

## What shapes Explore

Recipe Room can learn from signals such as:

* The photographers you follow.
* The Recipes, Posts, and collections you save.
* The Posts and Recipes you like or comment on.
* The cameras, film simulations, tags, and creators you search for.
* The linked Recipes you open from Posts.
* The Posts, Recipes, and collections you publish.
* Your choices to show more or fewer Posts like something.

Repeated interests matter more than one accidental tap. Saving several night Recipes and following photographers who work after dark is a stronger signal than briefly opening one night photograph.

## What you can find

Explore can introduce you to:

* Posts from photographers you do not follow yet.
* Recipes built around cameras or film simulations you use.
* Posts showing the same Recipe in different conditions.
* Public collections built around a look, project, or place.
* Forks that take a Recipe in a different direction.
* Work just outside your usual interests.

The aim is to give you useful variety without leaving you lost in unrelated content.

## Help recommendations improve

You do not need to configure a complicated interest profile. Use Recipe Room normally and be deliberate with the actions that matter:

1. Follow photographers whose work you want to keep seeing.
2. Save Recipes and Posts you genuinely want to return to.
3. Build collections around real interests.
4. Search for cameras, simulations, places, and styles you care about.
5. Use **Show more** and **Show fewer** when a recommendation is especially useful or unhelpful.

## New accounts

Explore has less information when an account is new. Follow a few photographers, save useful work, and search for a camera or style you know. Recommendations should become more relevant as you use the app.

## Explore does not promise placement

Publishing a Recipe, linking a Post, or adding accurate tags gives Recipe Room more context about the work. Recipes and Recipe-linked Posts can therefore create stronger discovery routes than an unlinked Post alone. They still do not guarantee a position or amount of exposure in Explore.

Recommendations can consider relevance, quality, community interest, recency, and other product signals. These systems may change as Recipe Room improves.

Read [Getting Discovered](/discovery/getting-discovered) to understand how Recipes, linked Posts, profiles, collections, Search, and Explore can lead people to your work.

## Your controls

Personalisation changes what Recipe Room shows you. It does not change who owns the content. You can hide an item, ask for more or fewer similar Posts, mute an account, or block someone when you need stronger separation.

Read [Personal Controls](/profile/personal-controls) for the difference between each option.
