# Uploading Images

> Image uploads for posts, recipes, avatars, and cover photos.

Images are central to Recipe Room. They show the final look, help other photographers judge a recipe, and make profiles and collections easier to browse.

## Supported Image Types

Recipe Room supports common image formats:

* JPEG
* PNG
* WebP
* HEIC

Each image can be up to 10 MB.

## Posts and Recipes

Posts and recipes use images differently:

* A post can include up to 10 photos.
* A recipe can include up to 3 reference photos that show the look clearly.

For a post, choose a first image that works as the cover, then arrange the rest so they support the story or caption. For a recipe, choose a small, honest set that shows what the settings produce in useful conditions.

## Choose Photos from Your Library

The first time you add an image, your phone may ask for permission to open the photo library. Allow access to the photos you want to use. If you chose limited access and can't see an image later, update the permitted photos in your device settings.

Photos stored only in iCloud may need to download before Recipe Room can prepare them. Keep the app open and stay on a reliable connection if a cloud photo takes longer to appear.

You can review the selected images before publishing, remove one, or go back to choose a different set.

## Avatars and Cover Photos

Your avatar appears around the app next to your profile, posts, recipes, comments, messages, and notifications.

Your cover photo helps give your profile a stronger visual identity. Use a clean image that still works when cropped.

## Upload Tips

* Avoid screenshots when a full-quality image is available.
* Use images you have the right to share.
* Keep examples honest. If an image has been heavily edited outside the camera recipe, mention that in the description or caption.
* If an upload fails, try a smaller file or a different supported format.
* Keep Recipe Room open while a larger upload is finishing.
* If one image repeatedly fails, remove it and test the rest. This helps identify whether the file itself is the problem.

## If Photos Are Missing or an Upload Stalls

1. Check that Recipe Room still has permission to access your photos.
2. Make sure the original is available on the device, not waiting to download from iCloud.
3. Check your connection and try again.
4. Try a smaller JPEG if the original file is unusually large.
5. If the problem continues, contact [support@reciperoom.io](mailto:support@reciperoom.io) with your phone model, app version, and what happened. Do not attach private photos unless support asks for an example you're comfortable sharing.
